Small Dogon pirogue
The Dogon are a people renowned for their cosmogony, their esotericism, their myths and legends concerned, to the assault by the outside world in search of culture and tourism. The population is estimated at about 300,000 souls living south-west of the Niger bend near Mopti, Mali (Bandiagara, Koro, Banka), near Douentza and part of the North of Burkina (North west Ouahigouya ). Villages are often perched on top of the blank scree hills, according to a single architecture. The history of migration and facilities of the Dogon (ten main groups, a dozen different languages), includes several assumptions. For some historians, the Dogon fled from an area west of their current location, following an assault would be the Mande area, they would have headed east across the River Niger.
