This mask comes from the Boa ethnic group, and is named Pongdudu " that ones who spreads terror to his foes" It is thus a war- purpose mask for getting the men ready to war. Its distinctive features are the figure of ears and the use of pigments. The Boa are very close to the Mangbetu.
